I am currently reading “Conversations with Major Winters” by Cole C. Kingseed. The main idea of my book is on the battlefields of World War II mainly in Europe; Major Dick Winters led his easy company the now legendary “Band of Brothers” from the confusion and chaos of the D-Day invasion to the final capture of Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest. Jets were invented. Some of the most scariest guns were developed in this time period. Jets were invented. The Germans or the Nazis wanted to take over the world. I think that WWII is the most deadly war of all time.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Jackie Robinson. I am on chapter 6 of the book. This book is teaching me about the in joy meant I have with baseball. One of the points could be that how when he is stealing a base. Jackie Robinson is the best African American baseball player. I think that another way is when the other team is talking bad about him. An example is when Jackie Robinson was playing and a cop told him he cannot play with white boys. I enjoy this book because of all the content that is in this. Jackie Robinson was a great person to be the first African American to play with the white boys and stand up for himself.
ReplyDeleteI am reading The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez, I just finished chapter three, one main idea of this book would be Gaby’s family she talks a lot about her family in her family mostly all of her siblings or family members have gotten pregnant and had a baby. Another point would be Gaby faking a pregnancy for her senior project to see how people would act around her and how they would treat her this is what the book mostly focuses on. The last point would have to be her mom it talks a lot about her and how her mom was treated with her family and her ex- boyfriend. Her ex- boyfriend didn’t treat her very well he was mean to her. She didn’t talk much about her parents. Finally, she had Gaby at really young age.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading the Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner. The main idea of the book is to overcome your difficulties. When Chris was growing up he had a rough childhood. He was moving a lot from house to house and was in some abusive relationships. When Chris was old enough he was enlisted into the army and even though it was a hard time for him, he would make it through. Lastly after being poor to becoming rich to being homeless to having a multi-million stock company he has had to overcome the challenges of life and he has made it. The Pursuit of Happyness is about overcoming your difficulties because Chris Gardner had a rough childhood, made it through the army, and was homeless.

The book is about her life when she first met Charles Lindbergh, who was a pilot that was the first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, Ann sent letters about when she first went to the place where she is going to meet Charles, she has diaries about when she first met him, also there is letters going to and from Ann and Charles. Those letters going Charles Lindbergh from Ann Marrow, the letters are love letters most of the time except at the beginning when they first met.

ReplyDeleteMy book is about the history of sniping, it contains pictures of historical events, factual information of the origin of snipers, and the factual history of snipers. The book gives the stories of essentially every battle of every war snipers were in. Such as the part I just read where it told the advantages that snipers had in a battle in the revolutionary war. Earlier on in the book it gave images to help demonstrate techniques snipers used, it was all very helpful. Like I said earlier in my blogs it gave the story of how snipers became snipers in which the name derived from the expert marksman that hunted snipes.
The book I am reading is “Catch Me If You Can”. The author is Frank Abagnale. My book is about him when he was younger when he was a conmen. It tells what he did and how he did it. He did all of this when he was 18. This book tells about his cons and conmen and if you read it you can see the tricks they use to trick people to get into places and take your money. This book is really fun to read when you get bored or just to pass the time when you have nothing to do. I really recommend it.

And another fact is how when he got in the league he was laughed at mocked.people threw trash and other things people also spit on him people sent death letters to him and his family.and he did not even fight back he said he was humble and he was a lover not a fighter the thought that if you didnot they would respect you and leave you alone.
This week I read Inside Delta Force by Eric Haney. The main idea of this book is the Delta Force. It is also about some of his experiences in Delta Force and the people he met while in the army. He also talks about what happened to some of those people. Like one guy was the head security guy of their base and one time someone was trying to climb over the fence to save some time, and the security guy pumped his shotgun and the guy on the fence said he was one of the people there and while he was checking in the security guy said he knew it was him because he would have shot him immediately otherwise. The security guy was later found lying against the fence of the base, holding his shotgun, dead from a heart attack.

Most of the deaths are from Animals like bison, and bears. The second most dangerous thing that can kill you are hot springs. Even though they are really pretty they can burn your skin. The last support I have to my thesis is that bad weathers can also harm. The thesis for this book is YellowStone is a dangerous place animals roam freely, there are dangerous hot springs, and they get really bad winters up in Wyoming

The man idea of this book is to show how military animals effect people lives and especially the main characters in the this book. They have many jobs to do that play a major roll in the military. Military dogs have many jobs in the military including tracking, scouting, and sentry. They use there abilities to help the military. An example is that the dogs can sniff out any bombs which save the people in the book. They also smell for snipers hidden to protect the marines lives. These are just a few of the jobs military dogs have.
I am still reading Lost in Shangri-La by Mitchell Zuckoff I am at chapter 5 so far. The main idea of my book is rescuing people from a foreign and unexplored region with hostile natives. The first point is that in the beginning of the book the author goes over who discovered Shangri-La and how no one has been able to land and explore Shangri- La. The second point is that the author goes over the fact that the natives are rumored to be headhunters and fight among each other and try to attack airplanes when they fly close. The final point that proves the main idea of my book is rescuing people from a foreign and unexplored region with hostile natives is that the main reason Shangri-La is a point of interest is because they need to make an airstrip there to resupply troops fighting the Japanese on the other side of the island.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Washington’s Secret Six by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger: My book is about George Washington, spies during the American Revolution, and the overall conflict between the British and the Americans. During the book it gives information about both sides in great detail and gives backstory about each of the characters. It tells in great detail about George Washington in that it talks specifically about his past military experiences as well as his strategies in the American Revolution. The book also talks about the spies involved in the spy ring by talking about each one’s backstory and what they would contribute. The overall conflict is strewn throughout the book by detailing each battle that occurs.

The main idea of this book is about how the people were affected by the one night that changed history and the safety of the passengers. I think why they were affected because ships in the future were equipped more life boats. Another safety failure is the crew was ignoring the sittuation. We may or may never know why the crew didn't take charge.

DeleteI am currently reading Lincoln's Grave Robbers by Steve Sheinkin. The main idea of my book is finding out who stole Lincoln's body from the Lincoln Memorial. Lincoln's body was sort of easy to find from these three reasons. The police was searching for clues about the robbing. The robbers gave the police the chance to pay them over a million dollars for the return of the body. Finally, the security of the tomb was increased greatly after the robbing.
ReplyDeleteThe main point of Reckless Faith by Beth Gukenberger is to show what it takes to be a good missionary, because they can provide for people in need with their faith, how to completely rely on God for money, and how it gives people hope for their future. The couple that went over to Mexico and ended up adopting two kids and having a few of their own. They helped house people who would’ve had nowhere to go. They do not get a lot of income because being a missionary is a job that involves volunteering and sacrificing everything. Missionaries are very inspiring.

ReplyDeleteI am reading American Sniper by Chris Kyle. The books point is that its not easy becoming a sniper. Its about Chris Kyle becoming a sniper in the Navy SEALs. The book also talks about his life. It talks about the training he went through to become a sniper. Before Chris was a sniper he worked on ranch and he did bull riding. Chris had an accident and broke his wrist really bad which caused the SEALs to contact him a while after he applied. You have to be mentally stable to get into the Navy SEALs. If your not mentally stable they will turn you away. You also have to be physically stable.

I think my books main idea is that Unicorns are important in our culture because of the imagination that they bring to our culture and make our culture richer because of it. The reason I think this is because the author does not say ANYTHING ANYWHERE about whether or not Unicorns are real, he only states the truth about where they came from, how they came to be, and how they were created. I think the reason he DOESN'T say anything about their existence is because it would spoil the true meaning of the book, which is to inform people, NOT persuade them.

Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton. The main idea of this book is never give up on your dreams and follow what you love to do that you are good at in life. This next chapter is about when Bethany is attacked by the shark. She went to the beach with her friend Alana and Alana’s Dad and brother. They went surfing in the ocean. I like that she went with her friend’s family to go surfing in the ocean. Then after they surfed for a little while her and her friend waited for a wave to come and all the sudden a shark came and bit off her arm. I do not that her arm gets bitten off by a shark. This is the next chapter of Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton.
ReplyDeleteI am reading "Crossing the Borders of Time" by Leslie Maitland. The main idea is about a love that was loss but for many years trying to survive a war and was found. First point, they're love was loss because the fear of getting caought by the Nazi. Second point, is that the main character is trying to find her mother's loss love after many years. Last point, is that the main character has a diffecalt time to find her mothers loss love that for many years had hope it would grow. Overall, my blog book is a real life look love that was loss but tried to be found.
ReplyDeleteIn my book Freakonomics the main idea in my opinion is economics itself. I think this because it says “morality is how we think the world should be, economics is how the world really is” and it shows promising results that show interesting information. For example It talks about how abortion lowers crime rates because children born into families that have an unwanted child have a higher chance of neglecting and abusing their child and thus becoming a worse and worse person. I also found that a childs character isn’t affected much whether or not he was sent to a day care and whether or not he/she had one parent or 2 mothers or 2 fathers.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Unbroken, written by Laura Hillenbrand. Unbroken is a non-fiction book that tells the life of Louie Zampernini, an Italian immigrant from Torrance, California. The main idea of this book is Zampernini's life. This book discusses his childhood, young adult age, and later in his life. Louie Zampernini had an odd childhood. He was a born trouble maker. Ever since he knew he was in the world, all he did was cause a fuss. His behavior traveled with him into his teenage years, but were left behind when he made the Olympic running team. As he grew older and wiser, he singed up for military service as a member of the Air Corps in 1941. I strongly recommend this book to all who are willing to be inspired.
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Devil in the Details: Scenes of an Obsessive Girlhood by Jennifer Traig. The main idea of this book is that even though problems can be tough to work through, it is possible to cope with them. The first thing that supports this statement is how Jennifer explains her illness in the beginning of the book. She talks about how her Illness was severe and lasted a long time, but she was able to overcome it with treatment and help. The next thing that supports this statement is how Jennifer realizes that she has a problem and realizes she needs help. The last supporting point is how this book was written in a humorous way. This tells us that Jennifer is able to talk about that hard time of her life in a numerous way and this tells us that she was able to overcome her issues. In conclusion, this book is very interesting and funny.

DeleteI am the reading the book "Killing Patton" by George O'Reilly. The main of the book is wether or not George Patton was assassinated or if his death was accidental. I believe that George Patton was assassinated due to his intelligence, his war tactics and his sarcastic mouth. The book however doesn't give its opinion on wether George Patton's death was an accident or assassination but it clearly gives facts that back up the idea of George Patton being asassinated. The facts are all present but yet the debate still goes on. What do you think, do you think his death was an accident or an assassination?
ReplyDeleteHi Mrs. Watson, my book this week is yet again, French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano. The main idea of this book is that France has healthier food, nutrition, portion control, and lifestyle and exercise habits than those in other countries. This book is focused on this main idea because of the author going to America for an exchange program and then coming back much heavier than she was when she left France. This prompted her to begin to study how the French gastronomy is so much different (and healthier) than other countries gastronomy. The French tend to walk much more than those of other cultures (especially America). They also use healthier ingredients and control their portion sizes and really this book is all really about teaching all of these facts and tips to others so they can go for the French way of living. They can also be healthier and this book also has super delicious recipes inside, (one of which my dad made for us the other night, the grilled peaches with lemon thyme, page 138). I enjoy how this book's main theme is about health because it is very interesting to me! Have a nice weekend.

Hi, Ms. Watson! My book that I have been reading this quarter is the American Sniper Memorial Edition by Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice. The main idea of this book is about the life of Kris Kyle and how he was the best sniper in the Navy SEALs. He is the best sniper because he has the world record for the furthest sniper shot, he has shot and killed the most people, and has never been wounded on a mission. This book has been really good and I cant wait to read the rest for the rest of the quarter. Have a nice day, Ms. Watson!
ReplyDeleteThis quarter the book I am reading is Si-Cology 101 by Si Robertson from Duck Dynasty. The three main ideas of my book are responsibility, courage, and respect. The first main idea is responsibility because Si is a very responsible person, and he always helps people out when they need it. He has gone above and beyond in the past to be a responsible person. Another main idea of the story would be courage. When Si was in Vietnam, he was a guard at night at an American base. He had a few close calls with some enemy soldiers during his job. I believe you have to have a lot of courage to do what Si did during the war. Lastly, another quality in the book was respect. This was one of the most important values to Si that he mentioned in the book. He said that respect should be at the top of everyone’s list of morals, and that it’s a value that he lives by every day. (168 words)

The main idea of my book is about a terrorist attack in New York, New York that happened in 2001 on the World Trade Center, or "twin towers," otherwise known as 9/11. If I were to write a thesis about 9/11, it would go something like this: 9/11 affected the entire nation because it caused suffering in families to this day, still holds fear throughout America, and everyone can still see it as a threat. Families still suffer today because they may have had some loved ones who died on that tragic day. There is still fear throughout America, fear of another terrorist attack.

One point is they talk about how hard the SEAL training is to become one of the people to hunt down terrorist. These men joined one of the most prestige teams in history to serve our country. They have mentioned multiple groups they have captured terrorists from. The main idea of this book is to take down terrorist and Osama Bin Laden and prove that SEAL training is extremely hard to become one of the people to hunt down terrorist, they joined one of the best teams in the world, and they have captured many people from different groups of terrorists.

The flag raisers finally met when they were all told to report at Camp Pendleton, south of Los Angeles. A new marine division was to be activated on November 11, 1943, Armistice Day. Mike, Harlon, and Ira reported to the camp after getting out of basic training while Franklin, Rene, and Doc had already had experience in battle. Forty percent of the force reporting to the camp had experience in battle. The remaining sixty were just out of basic training and did not see the horrors of battle yet. All six men were assigned to Company E. It consisted of about 250 men and the force was given a new name: Spearhead. Every marine in Company E was trained with a MI rifle. Then, one day, a figure appeared in a black cloak, it was the president. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was practically giving the training boys his blessing. I think the main idea of my book is that the six flag raisers were meant to be important. I say this because the president showed up during their training, three of them had survived battle before entering the camp and were not killed, and finally, none of them wanted to fight. They were angry, but someone, whether it was friends or family or anger forced them into signing up in the first place.

ReplyDeleteThe main idea of my book is never give up, trying is better than failing, and always have hope in you. George Dawson knew that he could not read when he was a kid, and that he was going through tough times early on. His parents knew how to read and his friends, but he never gave up on reading. He finally learned how to when he was 98 years old. That might seem hard to believe, but he wanted to learn and that is what he did. It took him years and then he would tell other kids about his life and how you cannot just give up like that. It might take time or even years. You have to try at least then not try at all.

I am reading The Pregnancy Project by Gabby Rodriguez. The main idea about my book is how high school girls and boys judge people on their looks by how heavy they are, acne on their faces, and most importantly if they are pregnant. Gabby faces a lot of challenges when she is "pregnant" but still manages to get her project done. This day in age, people can be so rude when it comes to appearance and not realize how much they can hurt a person. If your too fat or too skinny you aren't excepted, while if you have the "perfect" body your are idolized.

The main idea of my book would most likely be that anyone can do anything and it doesn't matter what race or religion you are. Also if you love something you should put your all into it don't listen to what anyone says. As long as you love it it shouldn't matter what people say or do, because it's something you love to do or their just jealous and wish they put as much effort to something like you. This book shows that because three kids that aren't from America and never played baseball but still loves the sport enough to practice and give hard work and dedication. Also people didn't think these three kids from India couldn't make it in the major leagues. So that's also another reason because they didn't have many people that believed in them and doubted them. So they show that their not going to stop trying to pursue their dreams. So agian my books main idea mostly that people can do anything.

The main idea of the book I am currently reading about is the hardship this particular marine faced, the bonds he forged with his fellow service men, and how all of these challenges can change or affect a person for ever. While reading I noticed this through the scenes that would show him in the heat of combat. It easily stood out because each of them would have to rely of each other and if one messed up it could affect everyone. Then at the end of all they recollect about what they just did. The last points stands out particularly near the end when the marine returns to life as a civilian.
I am reading The Life, Art, and Music of Daniel Johnston by Tarssa Yazdani and Don Goede. The main idea of this book is all in the title; the life, art, and music of Daniel Johnston. It talks about his journey from West Virginia in a strict christian family aiming to be a comic book artist to Austin, Texas being named Songwriter of the Year for his cassettes, and then his decline due to his manic depression. Then it goes on talking about his art, what his characters represent, and his collaborations with other artists. Then it talks about his music, what his lyrics meant, and how his main inspiration is an obsession grown from a girl that Daniel knew in college. All of these represent the main idea of the book, which is the life, art, and music of Daniel Johnston.

The main idea of my book is to make teens knowledgeable of God's word, encourage the spread of God's word, and to make it easier to learn about Christianity. First, it makes teens know a lot more about God than they could by reading the regular Bible because it puts it in words that we can understand, rather than the writing of the time it was made which can be confusing. Next, this encourages the spread of his word. When people our age read this book and if they get excited about it, it will make it easier for them to talk about it and tell others about what they read. Finally, they can learn about it easier. Even if they don't have all of the details about it, they can know what or who to look up to find out more. They can also know what to ask their pastor or parent about it which will give them even more information than what they got from the book.
ReplyDeleteIn the book that i am currently reading, 12 Years a slave by Solomon Northup, has the main idea is about how cruel we treated felow humans back in the day and even now we still treat them badly and not only whites and blacks but all of us as a whole. In the book it says that these people abducted this man and forced him into slavery where he was beaten and whipped for not picking enough crops. The man tried to escape and was horribly whipped almost to the point of death for trying to be free when he was already supposed to be.

The points that support my answer are that in the book you read a lot about the war and the way that I know that it's about world war II is that it mentions a lot about Hitler coming to power and that the Jews had to register and wear the star of David. Another way I know it's about the holocaust is that it talks about how Jews went to different school from other german children and that in one time in the book it starts talking about how Jews went into hiding or taken to camps and killed. ReplyDeleteI'm reading Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo. The main idea of this book is to get the word out to people about this amazing event that happened to this kid. The main reason they want to get the word out there is to show people out there that there is a paradise you go to after you pass on earth called Heaven. One reason i say that is when the kid tells his parents about what happened to him during the surgery the first thing that the parents wanted to do was tell everyone about it. The second reason I think that is why would this kid have been taken to Heaven if he wasn't supposed to share it with people. The third reason is if this kid wasn't meant to share this information with people then the kid would have probably died in the surgery or never go sick in the first place. So i think that the main idea of my book is to tell people that heaven is real.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Onward we Charge by Paul Jeffers. The main idea of this book is Darby's life, world war 2, and the bravery of Darby's rangers. The whole story is about Darby and how he was one of the most successful officers. He started from a private loading cannons to actually being a leader towards others. The fact is that he received those awards and medals after he died. The second part the book is based off is world war 2. Being that what Darby is fighting in. The story of Darby's rangers wouldn't have happened. Last but not least, the book talks about how brave the rangers were. So far the book is alright. I'm slowing reading the book, but at a good pace.
ReplyDeleteI am still reading A Chance in the World by Steve Pemberton. The main idea of my book is like abuse and also trying to find out who you are. The abusive state of the book is proven by the stories he tells of his foster family beating him with lots of different things and sometimes even doing it for no reason. Another reason is that they not only do that, they make him do everything for them which is abuse to the child in the way of having them do it all even if he or she didn't know how to do it. If he did it wrong, then he would get beat. The last point is that in the chapter I read, Steve was talking about this feeling he had slash dream he had of his father coming to save him from the Robinsons. Coincidentally Betty decided to make a rude comment about his "dad" and he started thinking if it was true. So he did research and everything and found out that the man she was talking about is actually not his Dad from what he knows and is still hoping his father is alive. The man was a famous boxer in their town that got murdered and then at his funeral his body got burned by people who hated him. That's pretty rough, I was thinking that this guy actually was his father but who knows. I still think he might be his father.
ReplyDeleteThe topic of Soul Surfer is to never give up. I believe this is the topic because even though she loses her arm, she never gives up on trying to surf again. She has to start from the beginning of surfing with one less arm. She puts her faith in God that He will help her back onto the board. She also keeps her head held high while she is facing a lot of doubts about surfing. Bethany Hamilton chose to never give up so, she tried surfing again, put her faith in God, and kept her head held high.

This week I read chapter 5 of American Sniper by Chris Kyle. The main idea of this book is how life was during the present day war and the experiences that he had overseas. In the book he describes scenes like where he had to shoot a woman next to a child and he also describes some of his home life at the same time. In one part of this chapter it describes how they had to use what was around them even if it was a fallen enemies RPG. It also describes how it was hard when someone was killed but they had to keep going no matter what.
ReplyDeleteThis week I am still reading the Art of War by Sun Tzu. The main idea of the book is how to use real time war strategy, how to develop them, and how to execute them effectively. This book is a complex read but can also grab your attention with the wartime strategies being put into play throughout the novel. I have read a few chapters now and i am already confused with some parts and I don't fully understand everything but i knew going in that this would be a tough read for me so i am staying on it. I hope that the subject may clear up for me soon so i can get back on track but I am just having trouble at the moment understanding fully.

If you were a con artist what would you do for money, who would you steel from, and what would you do with the money. If I was a con artist I would steel money from the bank also from the stores and from people. With the money I would give it to my family and then I would invest in a car business so that I can put the money in it. By doing this it will look like I am getting the money from the cars b it really is what I am steeling.
ReplyDeleteThe book I am currently reading is Million Dollar Arm by J.B. Bernstein. I think that the main idea about my book is to always shoot for the stars, or to always reach for the things that seem the most impossible to aim for. In this case, teaching two people from India who no nothing about baseball to become pros in less than a year is something that can be thought of as an impossible thing to do, but for Bernstein, it wasn’t. Throughout the book, J.B. had struggled with the two, but because they put enough determination, and wanted to make him and their families proud, they became exactly what they needed to be, and even learned a lot about American culture along the way. Even throughout the book, you could slowly see J.B. becoming less and less attached to his job, and more focused on his friends and his team.

ReplyDeleteThe main idea of my book is a couple that is trying to start a family with their new dog Marley. First the couple decided to get a dog because they needed a pet to relive stress and thought it would be good for them. Once they got their dog they realized he was a lot to handle because of how crazy he is. They loved Marley though. The couple decided to have kids and start a real family. They had a few miscarriages and was very devastated about that. They tried again and have one kid right now and another on they way. After their new baby comes they will want to move into a bigger house.
The book I am currently reading is Navy seal dogs by Mike Ritland. I think the main idea about my book is that a dog is really a man's best friend and that they are an important part of the navy seal's missions. Well for one thing they are used in almost every mission. For example they helped the navy seals capture and kill Osama Bin Laden. There a man's best friend because they helped Mike get through some tough time's. Like for example when Mike was younger he would get bullied by other kids but then when he would have his dog they wouldn't mess with him. Mike has always loved dogs, when he was a kid he would always play with other people's dogs until he got his own.
ReplyDeleteSometimes You Win Sometimes You Learn by John C. Maxwell. The main topic of this book is basically to take a lost into a learning situation; basically saying learn from your mistakes. In this chapter the book is talking about responsibility and how we should give responsibility in what we do wrong or good and not blame other people. I agree we tend to blame someone before we admit what we did was wrong/good. This chapter it talks about the actor Robert Downey and how he was a drug addict and he didn’t realize he needed to change until he lost this major acting job, so he took responsibility in himself to change and he did. Sometimes all it takes is a little losing for someone to realize what they actually lost… if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the Maze Runner by James Dashner. The main idea of the story is that if you try hard enough you will succeed. I think this because they never gave up on trying finding a way out of the maze and with the help of Thomas they eventually did. They never backed down and they eventually succeeded. This is a great book and I have read the second one but have not yet gotten to read the third one. But I hope to soon. I would totally recommend it to anyone!
